MSB were appointed to deliver a full mechanical refurbishment of a basement plant room in Gloucester — a complex project defined by extremely tight access routes, restricted working space, and the need to maintain continuity of building services throughout the installation.

Working within these constraints, our engineering team undertook a complete reconfiguration of the plant room, installing new Ideal commercial boilers and integrating them seamlessly with the existing primary and secondary circuits. The design retained key elements of the original system, including the hot water cylinder, ensuring optimum performance while avoiding unnecessary expenditure for the client.

To complement the mechanical upgrade, MSB designed and installed a new Building Management System (BMS) panel. This enhanced the facility’s operational control, providing improved system visibility, more accurate modulation, and increased energy efficiency across the heating and hot water services.

Despite the challenges presented by the confined layout, our team coordinated the works meticulously, managing deliveries, material movements, and installation sequences with precision. The project was completed to a high technical standard, demonstrating MSB’s capability to deliver robust, intelligently engineered solutions in even the most restrictive environments.
